This resource is an initiative of the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia Inc. (GENCA) which was brought to fruition with the support of the Infection Control Program of the Communicable Diseases Unit of Queensland Health. The project was funded as part of the Quality Improvement and Enhancement Program.
The aim of this website is to provide an educational tool for health care professionals to minimise adverse outcomes associated with breaches in the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and accessories. The material in this website is based on the national standard of practice and will assist the professional gastroenterological organisations to educate health care professionals to meet that standard.
Content for the training package was developed in collaboration with GENCA. This organisation has established a process of assessment of learning after the theoretical component in this website has been completed.
A steering committee oversaw the development of the training package that was then submitted to a consultative group for review.
