Queensland Health is responsible for the implementation of the Government's Waiting List Reduction Strategy. The strategy aims to improve access to surgical services across Queensland public hospitals.
While access to surgery is regulated to a large extent by workloads in operating theatres and surgical wards, it is also influenced by activity in emergency departments and outpatient clinics. Queensland Health monitors and assists in all of these areas, to improve services and to provide information to enable appropriate decision making regarding planning and resource allocation.
