Community Mental Health Services
Overview
The Community Mental Health Service (CMHS) provides a range of services to patients in the short, medium and long term. These include:
- Individual treatment programs
- Family interventions
- Group therapy
- Short and long term support
- Programs and Support groups
- Psycho-education
- Outpatient Clinics
- Outreach Services
CMHS consists of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team. This service aims to support people with mental health issues in the community and maintain their independence.
Services are provided via home visits or from the facility located at 138 Thuringowa Drive, Kirwan or 35-38 Gregory Street, North Ward.
Community Mental Health Services are provided free of charge.
Mental Health Outpatients' Clinics and Psychology Services are also offered at the North Ward Health Campus. The Outpatient Clinics provide appointments with Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Registrars, Psychologists and Psychotherapists. Appoiintments are made via the Team Leader or Clinical Coordinator of the Acute Mental Health Unit.
Psychology provides both inpatient and outpatient services throughout the Adult Mental Health Services. Psychology staff provide clinical assessment and treatment of clinical disorders within a psychological counselling and cognitive-behavioural framework.
Referral is via the Team Leader or Clinical Coordinator.
