Skills To Enable People and CommunitieS (STEPS) is a Queensland-wide information and skills program for adults with Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), and their families and friends. It is a new initiative of the Acquired Brain Injury Outreach Service (ABIOS), best suited for people who had their brain injury or stroke at least 1 year ago.
The effect of brain injury or stroke on a person's life can be extensive, and can also result in changes in their family, social and community networks.
-
STEPS aims to improve community life for people with ABI or stroke, and their families.
-
STEPS will help people understand how to look after themselves, and to participate more in their local communities.
-
STEPS will also build and strengthen connections between families, carers, service providers and local agencies and foster a sense of strength and ability.
