Our mission

 Quality healthcare that Queenslanders value.

Our purpose

To provide leadership and direction for the public health system, and create an environment that encourages innovation and improvement in the delivery of health services.

Our values

Caring for people
We will show due regard for the contribution and diversity of all staff and treat all patients and consumers, carers and their families with professionalism and respect.

Leadership
We will exercise leadership in the delivery of health services and in the broader health system by communicating vision, aligning strategy with delivering outcomes, taking responsibility, supporting appropriate governance and demonstrating commitment and consideration for people.

Partnership
Working collaboratively and respectfully with other service providers and partners is fundamental to our success.

Accountability, efficiency and effectiveness
We will measure and communicate our performance to the community and governments. We will use this information to inform ways to improve our services and manage public resources effectively, efficiently and economically.

Innovation
We value creativity. We are open to new ideas and different approaches and seek to continually improve our services through our contributions to, and support of, evidence, innovation and research.

Our government objectives

We recognise that Queenslanders trust us to act in their interests at all times. To fulfil our mission and sustain this trust we will contribute directly to achieving four of the five Queensland Government objectives for the community:

Our strategic outcomes

Queensland Health's strategic outcomes for the health system and health services are:

Health system

  1. Queenslanders live longer, healthier and more independent lives.
  2. Health equity is improving.
  3. Queenslanders have confidence that their health system responds well to their needs.
  4. The health system is affordable, sustainable, and continually improving.

Health service

  1. Health services emphasise keeping people well, and avoiding unnecessary hospitalisations.
  2. Access to services is easier and faster, especially for those with higher health needs or living in rural or regional communities.
  3. Services are innovative, safe and effective, and designed around those who use them.
  4. Health service delivery is supported by high quality corporate and clinical governance and management.
  5. Public investment in health is targeted to ensure the best possible use of available resources.
