Queensland Health offers Health Practitioners the following benefits and flexible, lifestyle–friendly employment conditions:
- Superannuation
- Up to 12.75% employer contributions to superannuation.
- Annual Leave
- 4 weeks paid annual leave with option to purchase up to 4 weeks additional leave p.a.
- 17.5% loading on annual leave.
- Sick/Family Leave
- Up to 10 days per year, accruable.
- Long Service Leave
- 13 weeks long-service leave after completing 10 years continuous service.
- Parental Leave
- Includes adoption, paternity and spousal leave, as well as paid and unpaid maternity leave.
- Entitled to 14 weeks paid maternity leave which may be taken at half-pay for double the time.
- Family Responsibilities Leave
- You can use your accrued sick leave to care for a member of your immediately family who is sick.
- Study and Conference Leave
- Up to $2,500 p.a in professional development allowance and up to 3 days paid professional development leave p.a.
- Buying extra leave
- Queensland Health may be able to support Allied Health Professionals with family responsibilities, study or personal commitments by allowing you to purchase up to an extra 6 weeks leave per year.
- Rural Allowance
- Health Practitioner employees permanently located in some rural districts will be paid an extra $60 – $100 per week.
- On-Call
- Generous on-call allowances, where this service is required.
- Job Sharing
- Queensland Health supports opportunities for job sharing. Temporary residents need to check with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to confirm their eligibility to work part-time under the terms of their visa.
- Career Breaks
- Allied Health Professionals can negotiate a fixed period away from work to undertake a variety of activities, with a guaranteed job to return to.
- Salary Sacrificing
- You can choose to take a Salary Sacrifice option offer worth around $9,000 gross per annum. Salary Sacrifice is a system where an employee chooses to ‘sacrifice’ a percentage of salary for a benefit (pre-tax) within an approved range of items, eg repayments on your car or home, and superannuation.
