Most allied health staff employed in clinical positions by Queensland Health are remunerated on the professional officer scale of the District Health Services Award State.
Positions are available from PO2 as a base grade clinician through to PO6 which is Director of Allied Health level.

The Allied Health Conditional Clinical Advancement Scheme is a state-wide process of promoting Queensland Health’s highest performing Allied Health employees regardless of geographic location, organisational structure and work unit size.
Through the scheme, eligible allied health employees are able to progress to the PO4, PO5 and PO6 levels based on advanced clinical skill and ability. The Allied Health Conditional Clinical Advancement Scheme is evidence of Queensland Health’s commitment to ongoing training and education of its workforce and to the recognition of advanced clinical skills. Applications for advancement are invited in July each year.
Queensland Health employees receive a minimum standard of four weeks annual leave, 10 days per year for sick/family leave, 13 weeks long service leave after completing 10 years of service (there is a pro rata component for family and study leave purposes etc), 12 weeks maternity leave after 12 months continuous employment and 1 week spousal leave.
