Queensland Health offers employment opportunities for registered podiatrists in hospital and community health settings with services ranging from:
High Risk Foot clinics have been established at various sites across the state for patients with acute and chronic ulcerations.
Outreach podiatry services are based at many large rural centres to service the surrounding remote communities. Trials have commenced at various sites using Tele-Health technology and allied health assistants to facilitate service delivery.
The use of Doppler ultrasound is commonplace and some services have toe cuff PPG vascular technology. Most services have access to orthotic and insole manufacturing facilities on site. Some services have access to f-scan pressure analysis and amfit orthotic manufacturing technology.
Individuals wishing to practise as a podiatrist in Queensland are required to be registered by the Podiatry Board of Queensland.
The Podiatry Board of Queensland recommends that podiatrists with qualifications not obtained in Australia or New Zealand, wishing to practise in Queensland, should first undertake a competency assessment by the Australian Podiatry Council before applying for registration.
