Karen, a disabled Australian South Sea Islander, has the following story to tell.

I have to go to the hospital every week, to get treatment. It costs me $16 in the taxi. That's more than I can afford. You've got to understand that a lot of Islanders are poor – really poor. But I have to pay $16. I have to go.
