Queensland Health implements and supports a number of programs to protect infants and children from a range of factors indicated in the development of behavioural problems and initiation to drug use.
Programs are targeted to infants, children, pregnant women and parents, as well as health and other professionals. These programs look to build protective factors and address risk factors.
The Positive Parenting Program offers support to families to help reduce serious behavioural or adjustment problems in children by assisting families develop ways to work through these problems. The program focuses on supporting families and communities to care for children, and provide a safe and supportive environment to strengthen the family and prevent the development of a range of social, behavioural and mental health problems.

The Parents Under Pressure program is an intensive, multi-component, family-focused intervention designed to improve child behaviours, decrease parental stress and improve family functioning as well as addressing issues of drug use.
The Parents Under Pressure program comprises 10 units focusing on a range of parental challenges, delivered over 12 sessions of about 1.5 hours duration each. The program is delivered by psychologists in families' homes.

The Parents, Kids and Drugs Program is an education and support program. It is designed for parents, or people in a parenting roles, who are concerned about their son or daughter's alcohol or other drug use where the son or daughter is under 25 years of age. One or both parents can attend the program and it is not necessary for their son or daughter to be accessing treatment or to still be living at home.

Activities surrounding Schoolies Week celebrations are coordinated by the Department of Communities.
