Major sports stadiums

For some time, smoking has been banned in the seated areas of major Queensland sports facilities such as The Gabba and Suncorp Stadium. To further reduce the risk of exposure to passive smoking, the Queensland Government has introduced greater restrictions on smoking in these facilities.

These laws apply to all facilities managed by the Major Sports Facilities Authority in Queensland and include:

Since 1 January 2005, smoking is illegal in any part of these major sports facilities.

The only exceptions are the roads, or in the car parks, or picnic areas and parkland of the facilities.

Maps of each of the facilities are available at www.msfa.qld.gov.au.

For details on this new law go to the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998.
