Checklist for supervisors dealing with work and family issues

be familiar with the various employment conditions available to workers with family responsibilities

discuss the matter with the affected worker in a location which offers privacy

gain an understanding of the impact of the work and family issue on the workplace

jointly examine all possible ways of managing the situation

jointly develop a range of solutions and agree on the most effective one
