The Cairns Base Hospital Disaster Management Plan (flyer) (PDF 486kb) outlines how Queensland Health has planned for emergencies and disasters in the wake of Cyclone Yasi, which led ot the evacuation of the hospital.
The plan looks at how the redevelopment of Cairns Base Hospital is beng built to withstand floods, storm surges and cyclones.
It also identifies three alternative centres that have beenidentified as a short term solution to disaster management and additional planning in the form of the proposed Edmonton Health Precinct.
