
The Wide Bay District Health Service supports a population of over 140,000 from the Bundaberg Hospital, the Childers Hospital, the Gin Gin Hospital, the Mt Perry Health Centre, the Biggenden Health Service, the Gayndah Health Service, the Mundubbera Multipurpose Health Service, the Eidsvold Health Service and the Monto Health Service.
The Bundaberg Hospital is a 144 bed acute health care facility. It offers general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, medicine, cardiology, nephrology, paediatrics, rehabilitation and an 11 bed intensive care/high dependency unit.
Mental health and a variety of community health services are provided for the District from the Bundaberg Hospital. Other health services include dental, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiology and pharmacy. Rural services for Allied Health, Community Health and Mental Health are provided from a campus located at Gayndah.
Childers Hospital is an 18 bed facility in the Wide Bay Health Service District. Childers is currently in the planning stages to become a multipurpose facility.
Gin Gin Hospital is a 18 bed acute facility, which offers acute care for minor ailments, emergency and outpatient facilities and aged care (long term nursing home patients).
The health needs of the Mt. Perry community are provided by the Mt. Perry Health Centre. Services provided include emergency services, pharmacy, and community home visits. General outpatient clinics are conducted each Wednesday.
