Pre-Admission at Bundaberg Health Service

Many operations are now conducted as day surgery procedures and you don’t need to stay overnight.

Your surgeon and anaesthetist will decide if you are suitable for a day surgery procedure and you will be told about your length of stay at the preadmission clinic.

If you are able to reduce or stop smoking prior to your operation you will be far more comfortable on the day of surgery and you will be at less risk of developing complications.

On your day of surgery fast and shower as directed.  Ensure you take any daily medications as you have been instructed.

If you develop a cold, sore throat, influenza or any other health problems please notify the hospital as soon as possible on 41 502488.

You should arrive at the arranged time to the Short Stay Unit at 7.am or 11.am or to the Elective Admissions Office /Ward as instructed. After being prepared for theatre and having observations taken, you will be taken to theatre between  30 - 45 minutes prior to the commencement of your procedure.

Most people having day surgery go home on the same day, however, if you are not well enough to go home you may be kept in hospital overnight.
