Maternity and Newborns Services

Caboolture Hospital maternity services provide quality care for women, babies and families in the Caboolture and surrounding areas.  The service maintains affiliation with Queensland universities with many graduate midwives and doctors returning to Caboolture for consolidation of skills. Caboolture is also a Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative accredited hospital.

Approximately 2000 babies each year are born at Caboolture hospital.  Various models of care are offered to women who access Caboolture Maternity Services.  We provide links with Social Work, Dietician, Diabetic Education, Physiotherapy and Child Health services.

Models of Care
The routine schedule of antenatal visits comprises a minimum of nine visits, with the model of antenatal care being determined following the midwives booking visit and the first Doctor’s visit at approximately 20 weeks gestation.

Low risk mothers are offered midwifery led care; either via

Women with medical conditions or pregnancy conditions requiring monitoring by a doctor are seen predominantly in Obstetrician led antenatal clinics. Referral to other health professionals and specialists occurs on an as needs basis.

All birthing services are provided onsite at the Caboolture Hospital campus regardless of model of care.
