Referrals
The Child Development Service assists children referred to maximise their developmental potential and functional abilities. New Referrals received are discussed at our weekly multidisciplinary case conference.
Referral must require support in more than one developmental area:

- Augmentative and alternative communication systems

- Developmental delays which may affect physical development
- Treatment programs
- Exercises
- Neuro-developmental therapy
- Mobilisation
- Stretching
- Strengthening
- Postural education
- Assessment and screening of "at risk" infants
- Provision of special needs equipment eg seating, standing, mobility and supporting postures

- Development of play and social skills
- Development of functional hand skills
- Developmental delays in everyday tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding and brushing their teeth
- Physical disabilities
- Coordination skills
- Prescribe specialised equipment eg. sleep systems, bathing equipment, supported seating and strollers, wheelchairs, splints, compression garments, switch toys and communication aids
- Assist with undesired behaviour associated with disability or developmental delay
- Educate on common sensory related issues
- Improve attention and concentration
- Liaise with other agencies

How to Refer

Accepted Referrals
The referrals that are accepted will be placed on our waitlist. The parents/carers will be contacted by a member of our team by phone or mail and they will also be asked to complete a Health Questionnaire form for their child.
Unaccepted Referrals
The initial referrer will be notified and advised of possible alternative options.
