Core Module 7 - Accountability
About accountability
Accountability is often considered to be about tracing how money was spent. However, accountability is much more than that. Individuals and groups identified as working for the good of the community are accountable to the whole community for:
-
their actions
-
their inactions
-
their decisions
-
their processes
-
the effect these have on community resources.
You may like to review the Values module for further information on this.
All participants have an obligation throughout this process to be open and accountable to themselves, the community, other organisations and the wider community.
By agreeing and documenting the roles and responsibilities, values, and reporting processes, participants provide the opportunity for the community to be able to:
-
follow the process
-
be informed
-
challenge what's happening.
