The Queensland Government is investing $1.4 billion to build the new Queensland Children's Hospital, which is currently under construction in South Brisbane and will be completed in late 2014.
Our new hospital will bring together the history, current skills and expertise of the staff of the Royal Children's and Mater Children's hospitals. New services will also be launched including a dedicated children's renal treatment centre and obesity, adolescent and chronic pain clinics.
Once completed, the Queensland Children's Hospital will be the major specialist children's hospital for the state providing clinical, educational and support services to the statewide network of children's health services.
As the major specialist hospital it will provide continued support for children and families through outreach and telehealth services as close to their home as possible, coordination of children's care, and medical transfers and retrievals.
