Establishing a Family Advisory Council The Queensland Children's Hospital Family Advisory Council (FAC) is comprised of parents and carers of current and former patients of the Mater Children's Hospital, Royal Children's Hospital and the paediatric cardiac program previously located at The Prince Charles Hospital. Throughout the planning phase of this landmark project, the QCH Family Advisory Council will be the representative voice of families in providing input into the planning process. The Queensland Children's Hospital FAC held its inaugural meeting at Parliament House on 18 April 2007 where members were welcomed by the Health Minister Stephen Robertson and then Director-General Uschi Schreiber. Council members play an important role in the of planning the new Queensland Children's Hospital.
Phased activities There will be two separate phases of activity for the Family Advisory Council. Once the Queensland Children's Hospital is operating the Family Advisory Council will work in partnership with the hospital administration to provide advice on proposed policy, communication strategies, family resources, organisational change and other matters that may impact upon the family experience at QCH.
