QCH Youth Advisory Forum

As part of our commitment to family-centred care, a Family Advisory Council (FAC) and a Queensland Children's Hospital Youth Advisory Forum (YAF) have been formed.

  • The Youth Advisory Forum comprises up to 15 young people aged 12 to 18 years who are currently, or have recently been, patients of the Royal Children's Hospital, the Mater Children's Hospital (including patients from the Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service, previously located at The Prince Charles Hospital).  Siblings of long-term patients may also join the QCH Youth Advisory Forum.
  • Member/s may also be chosen to represent the general interest of children and young people who are not necessarily users of hospital and other health services designed for children. This acknowledges that potentially all children and young people could become a single-incident, unexpected users of paediatric services during childhood and adolescence.

The ethos of the Youth Advisory Forum

A Queensland Children's Hospital Development Project initiative.

"Working towards a hospital designed for young people, by young people"

"Tell me, and I will forget,

Show me, and I may remember,

Involve me, and I will understand."

                                                   (Ancient Chinese proverb)
