August 2011 Health Minister Geoff Wilson announces QUT and the University of Queensland as inaugural partners of the QCH Academic and Research Facility
July 2011 The first sod is turned on the Leukaemia Foundation Queensland's new accommodation at Boggo Road Urban Village. Once the LFQ has moved to Boggo Road in early 2012, its current premises at South Brisbane will be demolished to clear the way for construction of the QCH Academic and Research Facility
May 2011 Completion of level one slab floor of the QCH
March 2011 Fiona Brewin-Brown appointed executive director of the QCH project

2010

November 2010 Staff and students of the Mater Children's Hospital Special School celebrate the return of their new and improved playground
May 2010 Pathology services are confirmed for the new QCH - a Queensland Government owned and operated pathology lab will provide vital pathology services to the new QCH
April 2010 A fly-around of the new QCH is released
First rudimentary room prototypes tested
March 2010 Premier Anna Bligh, with the help of seven-year-old Jack Ford, turns the first sod on the QCH site
January 2010 Abigroup is appointed as the QCH project's managing contractor

2009

December 2009 Medical, nursing and allied health clinical leaders are appointed to help lead and manage the integration of the Royal Children's and Mater Children's hospitals into the QCH
November 2009 Stage one of the Mater's Hancock Street car park opens
October 2009 Another floor is added to the design of the QCH taking it from 10 to 11 levels
July 2009 Commencement of the developed design phase

Dr Peter Steer is appointed CEO of Children's Health Services. This role includes responsibility for developing the services the QCH will deliver

2008

November 2008 Second feedback convention involving clinician and family /community members to refine the Schematic Design
September 2008 Commencement of the Hancock Street Carpark (a Mater Health Services Project). The car park is a necessary first step to deliver the QCH project
September/Oct 2008 Master Plan for QCH and the Preliminary Business Case approved by Cabinet Budget Review Committee
June 2008 Commencement of Schematic Design phase of planning.  This involves some 40 core and sub groups in detailed planning of proposed clinical and other spaces. Feedback process from the groups and several planned conventions will progressively refine the design to meet the needs of how services will be delivered in the QCH
End June 2008 Project Definition Plan completed - a stage required to inform the progressive stages of Schematic Design
12 June 2008 The Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service officially opened by the Minister for Health at the Mater Children's Hospital
End May/early June 2008 Release of Queensland Children's Hospital Health Service Plan 2008-2018
20 May 2008 Patients transfer from The Prince Charles Hospital Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service (QPCS) to Mater Children's Hospital
End March 2008 Finalisation of Master Plan report
15 March 2008 Family Forum held at Mater Children's Hospital to introduce Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service cardiac families to new facilities

Feb 2008

First outpatient clinic conducted at Mater Children's Hospital in advance of the move of Queensland Paediatric Cardiac Service from The Prince Charles Hospital to the Mater campus

1 October 2007 Paediatric cancer patients transfer from Mater Children's Hospital to Royal Children's Hospital as part of service planning leading to the establishment of the QCH
Sep/Oct 2007 QCH Draft Health Service Plan available for staff and community consultation
