Name the crane

Winners of the 'Name the Cranes' competition announced
They have a big job ahead of them, but the six cranes building the new Queensland Children's Hospital have been given a lift.

The cranes have each been given their very own name chosen by the six young winners of the Queensland Children's Hospital 'Name the Cranes' colouring competition.

Minister for Health Geoff Wilson unveiled the names on Tuesday, December 6 during a celebration for the winners at the hospital construction site in South Brisbane.

"I would like to congratulate our winners who were chosen from an impressive field of 301 very colourful and creative entries," Mr Wilson said.

"I also want to thank all the children who got involved in the construction of our new hospital by entering the competition."

The winners and their crane names are:

Lachlan, 5 years - 'Go Go'
Kristina, 6 years - 'Max'
Tiana, 7 years - 'Sophie'
Liam, 8 years - 'Clefty'
Mikayla, 12 years - 'Betty the Beast'
Evie, 15 years - 'Cranium'

Each winner received a prize pack including a certificate, Queensland Children's Hospital construction hat and a $100 movie voucher donated by Abigroup. The cranes now also bear banners displaying their new names.

Entries were received from all over Queensland.
