Building our new hospital

Schematic Design

Schematic Design is an important planning phase in the new children's hospital.

It is the process of arranging the layout of each department, service area  and room within the new hospital.  Decisions are made about what rooms are required in each department, where they will be physically placed in relation to each other and what size they will be.

At the end of this phase the architects will have completed a suite of drawings that detail the location and layout of the 10 levels of the new hospital.

Schematic Design will be completed around the end of June 2009.

At the completion of Schematic Design, Design Development begins. It is here that everything required in each department and service are is listed and specified in detail.  This phase will continue throughout the remainder of 2009.

Schematic Design plans evolve in consultation with more than 30 planning teams.  At each progressive stage of planning, the web site will be updated with the latest plans until they become final.

The plans below are current at 3 April 2009.
