Strategic Advisory Committee

The Director-General has appointed a Strategic Advisory Committee for the Project. This is a large group with a good cross section of staff from the three hospitals, key partners and parent representatives. The Strategic Advisory Committee will act as a sounding board as the project progresses.

Terms of reference

Its Terms of Reference are to provide strategic leadership and to oversee:

  • the planning for the move of the paediatric cardiac service from TPCH to MCH including:

  -   progressive rotation of staff in various streams for progressive up-skilling
- development of a workforce plan for the service at MCH
- targeted recruitment if required
- isolation of the paediatric cardiac service budget
- planning for the physical move of the service to MCH
  • the key planning processes for the Queensland Children's Hospital
  • ensuring effective engagement of clinicians in the service planning and design process
  • the change management process required to bring about progressive service integration, initially between TPCH and MCH and subsequently, RCH and MCH
  • resolution of key human resource issues
  • the move to the Queensland Children's Hospital

There is a close interface between the QCH Project team and Capital Works and Asset Management Branch and in particular the Major Projects Unit established within the Branch.

The overall governance of this and other major health projects sits within a whole-of-government process that supervises its major infrastructure projects.
