About us

The first thing you need to know about CHRISP is that our main priority is you. Whether you're a patient, visitor, healthcare professional, healthcare worker, student or future employee - it's your health and your safety that's important to us.

From detecting a potential outbreak in a major Queensland hospital, to engaging with medical schools to introduce new hand hygiene learning activities, developing a program to protect healthcare workers against vaccine preventable illnesses and preventing another needlestick injury in your workplace, it's our job to minimise your risk of infection - and the harm that infection might cause - while you are in a Queensland healthcare facility.

Our purpose

The prevention, monitoring and reporting of HAIs is part of a program of work to reduce preventable harm in Queensland Health hospitals.

Through a complete and integrated suite of systems, processes, people, products and services CHRISP provides a state-wide framework that supports continual improvements in the quality of patient and staff care and safety.

Our expertise in the areas of safety, education and research instills confidence, empowers decision-makers, clinicians and other healthcare workers and leads to behavioural changes that minimise the spread of infections within hospitals, and other healthcare environments here and around the world.

Vision

It is our vision to be internationally recognised as a leader in the proactive minimisation of preventable patient and staff HAIs through the implementation of evidence-based, clinician-led business practice changes. In collaboration with expert advisory groups and networks our dedicated team of professionals are driven to achieve our vision through our mission and our core set of beliefs.

Mission

To implement and enable evidence-based and clinician-led business practice change.

As an implementer we: Respond with appropriate systemic interventions to internal and external factors that have caused or are likely to cause preventable HAI to either patients or staff.

As an enabler we: Provide the necessary education, competencies, capabilities, technology and frameworks to enable all facility-based infection control programs to identify, respond appropriately and prevent HAI to patients and staff.

Beliefs

Integrity is fundamental to everything we do. That's why we've adopted a core set of beliefs which we continually apply to make sure the work we do - our reasons for doing it and the people we do it for - remains on track.

Our philosophy is to make sure:

The CHRISP Team
