Overview of CHRISP

The Centre for Healthcare Related Infection Surveillance and Prevention (CHRISP) is a statewide service reporting to the Senior Director, Communicable Diseases Branch.

Our Vision

To be internationally recognised as a leader in the proactive minimisation of preventable patient and staff healthcare associated infections through the implementation of evidence-based, clinician lead, business practice changes.

Our Mission

CHRISP has two missions as it is both an implementer and an enabler of evidence-based and clinical led business practice change.

CHRISP's implementer mission is:
To respond with appropriate systemic interventions to internal and external factors that have caused or are likely to cause preventable health care associated infection to either patients or staff.

CHRISP's enabler mission is:
To provide the necessary education, competencies, capabilities, technology and frameworks to enable all facility-based Infection Control Programs to identify, respond appropriately and prevent health care associated infection to patients and staff.

New CHRISP Logo

The character is meant to be a ‘guardian of germs’ who ‘stands tough on infection’. The icon is representative of a successful mission in surveillance and the prevention of infections. The strong typography supports this. The reason for the colours is red is the universal colour for medicine, and the blue is hygienic and fresh.
