Queensland Antimicrobial Stewardship Forum

About the Forum

The Queensland Antimicrobial Stewardship Forum was a one day summit held on the 8th September 2011. The purpose of the forum was to:

• Gain support from key stakeholders necessary to facilitate a successful antimicrobial stewardship program across Queensland facilities
• Evaluate the current situation and explore options for further developments required to achieve successful antimicrobial stewardship programs
• Generate solutions for the potential barriers to Antimicrobial Stewardship in various settings
• Develop strategies for Queensland Health facilities to implement antimicrobial stewardship programs

Throughout the forum attendees were presented with some of the essential components and effective strategies to implement a successful antimicrobial stewardship program appropriate to the size of their facility and the resources available.
