The CaPS program was established within the Metro South Health Service District (Queensland Health) and is proving highly successful at raising awareness and changing communication styles amongst senior leaders and front-line healthcare staff.
This is a one-day program consisting of two sessions led by CaPS facilitators.
Session One: Tools for improving healthcare communication
This session discusses and identifies various tools that may be used to improve communication within the healthcare environment, for example, the four steps graded assertiveness system and the SBAR model.
Session Two: Working with humans
This session focuses on reducing preventable harm through the use of effective communication within and between healthcare teams.
