These dates equate to 3 time periods for the year for which each facility is required to undertake hand hygiene auditing. To ensure statistically valid data, the table below outlines the minimum data requirements for each facility based on number of acute care beds.

Becoming a Hand Hygiene Auditor

Queensland Health utilises the '5 Moments for Hand hygiene' auditing methodology. To become a auditior one must participate in education on the "5 moments" methodolgies and meet certain criteria. There are two types of auditors: Gold Standard and General Ward Auditors. The only difference between the two is that the gold standard auditor is able to train general ward auditors whilst general ward auditors are unable to train in the 5 moments auditing methodolgy.

All healthcare workers are encouraged to become hand hygiene auditors. Please contact your local Infection Control department to discuss becoming a hand hygiene auditor. For healthcare workers interested in becoming a gold standard auditor please contact CHRISP via email:  chrisp@health.qld.gov.au

CHRISP Hand Hygiene Compliance Reports

CHRISP provides statewide reports on hand hygiene compliance by healthcare worker and facility.

Through the Clean Hands Application CHRISP provides Queensland Health hand hygiene compliance data to the National Hand Hygiene Initiative.
