Physical activity

Health Professionals feature image of a baby with a stuffed toyAn active life is important for health and wellbeing of adults and children. The amount of physical activity a person undertakes is strongly affected by social factors and individual choices. Being overweight or obese is a result of not enough physical activity1.

The Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005-2015 identifies physical inactivity as one of four risk factors for action. The strategy is supported by a range of guidelines, research and initiatives.

Positions for physical Activity Project Officers - to promote physical activity in mainstream and Indigenous-specific programs - have been funded under the strategy.
