Workforce

Effective prevention and management of chronic disease requires a workforce with an expanded range of skills and roles.

Workforce issues identified within the Queensland Strategy for Chronic Disease 2005-2015 include:

• the ageing workforce
• a tightening of the national labour pool
• strong international competition for health professionals
• inequitable distribution of workforce
• changing healthcare practices
