Commencing in March 2007, the Community Health Services Reform Project (CHSRP) has been established to develop future strategic directions for community health services for the next five (5) years where Queenslanders can access services as close to their community as possible with relevant consideration of safety and sustainability.
| UPDATE – | Deferral of Community Health Services Reform Project |
| Release of Discussion Paper and Consultation Phase |
The policy context relating to the Queensland Health Community Health Services Reform Project is rapidly changing.
The new Australian Government has committed to an extensive health reform agenda to be progressed in close collaboration and cooperation with States and Territories. This has required QH to review its scheduling of the Community Health Services Reform Project.
Queensland Health is currently engaged with the Australian Government and other States and Territories in developing the agenda for future national health reform, including around establishment of the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission, renegotiation of the Australian Health Care Agreement, and progressing COAG health priorities. These national reforms will influence the future of community health services.
The release of the CHSRP discussion paper for consultation - which prior to the election of the new Australian Government had been anticipated for early 2008 - has been suspended while these early negotiations around the national health reform agenda continue over the coming months.
At that time, a further review will determine the direction of the next stage of the Project.
