MoLIE (More Learning for Interns in Emergency)

MoLIE is a Queensland Health initiative aimed at increasing the capacity for accommodating the large number of medical graduates entering postgraduate training in Queensland over the coming years. MoLIE provides junior doctors with quality case-based learning grounded in clinical practice.

MoLIE supports clinical education which incorporates dedicated, structured teaching time with clinical educators. This scheduling allows for an increase of interns within each emergency medicine rotation. This should include up to four hour sessions of program delivery per week, as well as supervisor time for assessment and feedback.

MoLIE provides many challenges and solutions which change the way we think about junior doctor education in Queensland. MoLIE has resulted in:

MoLIE was initially developed for delivery at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in 2008 and has been implemented in Townsville, Princess Alexandra and QEII hospitals from 2010. The program is being rolled out to the Gold Coast Hospital in 2011.

The program is managed by Dr Victoria Brazil, Director, Queensland Medical Education and Training (QMET).
