Going to Hospital

Going into hospital can be a stressful time for both patients and families. Knowing as much as possible beforehand can help ease the stress. This general information will help answer questions. Information about the actual hospital you will attend will be provided to you on admission.

Being an Outpatient

Queensland is the only Australian state which provides comprehensive public outpatient services.

In outpatient clinics, hospital doctors, or private doctors who come to the hospital for scheduled sessions each week, provide a wide range of specialist medical and surgical services depending on the size of the hospital and community.

Emergency Departments

Queensland Health’s free public hospital system provides quality emergency care services across the State to people who are seriously injured or ill and need immediate treatment.

A Healthier You

Advance Care Planning

If you have strong beliefs about care or treatment you want in the future (for example, if you want to remain at home for as long as possible, or if you want to refuse specific treatment), it is particularly important to make your plans and your wishes known now.

This website will provide you with information and resources about advance care planning.

Informed Consent

This site gives you information to help you make the best decision for your health care.

13 Health

Queensland Health now has a phone line 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for all Queenslanders to help take the worry out of health concerns.
