Palliative Care for the Indigenous Community

| Australia's palliative care community increasingly recognises the importance of an awareness of cultural issues when providing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. |
In Queensland, CPCRE has worked closely with the Indigenous Education Officer for Cancer Council Queensland, to deliver palliative care information to local Indigenous communities, and to facilitate palliative care providers gaining greater knowledge of relevant Indigenous beliefs and practices.
CPCRE is also working with the Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA), which provides placements with specialist palliative care teams for interested health carers, to deliver palliative care education to Indigenous Health Workers.
