This year will mark the second annual Hospit-a-bull Fun Run for the Central Queensland Health Service District! The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the Rockhampton Hospital and also promote healthy lifestyles within the Central Queensland community.
This fun run allows our staff to really 'walk the talk' when it comes to health care and we hope that the community catches on as well.
For adults, the health problems and consequences of obesity are many and varied, including musculo-skeletal problems, cardiovascular disease, some cancers, sleep apnoea, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension to name a few*.
Many of these health problems are preventable though a healthy and active lifestyle. In particular, regular physical activity reduces cardiovascular risk in its own right and also improves levels of cardiovascular risk factors such as overweight, high blood pressure, and Type 2 diabetes**.
So get out there and make this fun run your first step to a more active lifestyle!
