Media campaign - Defend against dengue

Queensland Health's 'Defend against Dengue' campaign provides advice on the prevention of dengue fever and aims to reduce the spread of dengue fever in North Queensland.
The campaign warns that dengue fever is a serious disease. It gives examples of ways to reduce the number of dengue mosquito breeding sites and how to protect yourself and your family against this disease.

Television ads

Prevention

The prevention television advertisement highlights the three key steps needed to reduce dengue mosquito breeding sites around the home: TIP IT, STORE IT, THROW IT. Tip out any pooled water, store anything that can hold water undercover and throw out any yard rubbish.

Protection

The protection television advertisements show ways to protect yourself during dengue season, particularly when dengue fever has been detected in your area. This includes wearing repellent, using surface spray under furniture and behind curtains and seeing a doctor if symptoms appear.

The 'symptoms' radio ad (30 sec) outlines the symptoms and what to do if dengue fever is suspected.

Print ads

The press ads are designed to be run in local publications. The prevention ad explains TIP IT, STORE IT, THROW IT, while the outbreak ad advises people of an outbreak in their area and the steps they should follow to help protect themselves and their families.
