There is currently a new outbreak in the Townsville suburb of Mundingburra, declared 17 February 2012 Dengue type 2 (compared to D1 in Cairns) with one confirmed locally acquired case.

There is currently 6 confirmed dengue fever outbreaks in Cairns. Dengue outbreaks occur periodically in north Queensland. See previous outbreaks for details.
