LDL cholesterol: Commonly referred to as the "bad" cholesterol. Too much LDL in the blood can clog the arteries (atherosclerosis).

LDL/HDL ratio: measurement between the "bad" and the "good" fats present in the bloodstream used to determine risk for heart disease and monitor effectiveness of treatments.

Lesion: break in skin.

Lipids: General term used to refer to blood fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides.
