Enterprise Bargaining in Queensland Health - Background

Queensland Health is negotiating to replace four existing enterprise agreements:

Nominally expired on 31 August 2008:

•	Medical Officers (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No.1) 2005
•	Medical Officers (Queensland Health) Memorandum of Understanding 2005

Nominally expiring on 28 February 2009:

•	Terms and Conditions of Employment Queensland Government Visiting Medical Officers 2005 (2005 VMO Agreement)

Nominally expiring on 26 March 2009:

•	Nurses (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (EB6) 2006

Negotiations for the agreements that expired in August 2008 commenced in April 2008, while negotiations for the new nursing agreement commenced in October 2008. Negotiations for a new VMO agreement have also commenced.

A number of agreements are also currently being implemented:

• Health Practitioners (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No. 1) 2007
• Queensland Public Health Sector Certified Agreement (No. 7) 2008
• Queensland Health Building, Engineering & Maintenance Services Certified Agreement (No. 4) 2008

The agreement covering health practitioners nominally expires on 30 August 2010, while EB7 and the BEMs agreements both nominally expire on 30 August 2011.
