Centre for International Medical Graduates (CIMG)

TheCentre for International Medical Graduates (CIMG) is located within the Skills Development Centre (SDC) and has provided programs for IMGs preparing for the two Australian Medical Council (AMC) examinations since 1996.  Assistance is offered to doctors employed by Queensland Health for the following:
  • Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Preparation Program

This program aims to prepare IMGs for the AMC MCQ examination as the first step in the process of gaining General Registration in Australia.  The MCQ Preparation Program includes trial examinations with consultant reviews to support AMC candidates' self study.

  • Clinical Preparation Program aims to prepare IMGs for the AMC Clinical Examination.

This program is based on workshops delivered through role-plays in the presence of clinicians from different disciplines and communication consultants.  A trial examination with consultant feedback offers practice in exam technique, the opportunity to finetune communication and cultural skills together with clinical knowledge and skills in an Australian context.
