Digital breast screening solution


All BreastScreen Queensland services are now fully equipped with state-of-the-art digital mammography technology.

The new digital technology is improving women's health by providing better screening and access to services, particularly in rural and remote Queensland.
  

What does digital breast screening mean for clients?

  • Reduction in time between screening and notification of results, particularly for women in rural, remote and regional locations.
  • Reduction in time between screening and recall for assessment, leading to earlier treatment.
  • Increased small cancer detection rate, leading to reduced mortality and morbidity.
     

What does digital breast screening mean for radiographers?

  • Remote viewing enabling faster access.
  • Electronic quality assurance of mammographic images.
  • Electronic quality control for the mammography equipment.
  • Electronic access to prior images.
     

What does digital breast screening mean for radiologists/medical officers/surgeons?

  • It will assist in addressing reader workforce issues, particularly in regional areas.
  • Latest digital technology used for soft copy reading capability, allowing electronic enhancement of the image to aid reading and reducing the need for further imaging.
  • Improved work environment through the establishment of specialised reading rooms.
