Food safetyThis section deals mainly with food prepared for sale by businesses, charities and community groups. Under Queensland legislation, local councils and their EHWs have responsibilities to see that food sold by shops, canteens and stalls is safe and suitable to eat. Councils and EHWs can also help ensure that food prepared in homes is healthy and safe by educating their communities about the risks of food poisoning.
This section provides EHWs with information about the problems unsafe food causes, and how to stop those problems arising in the first place. In addition, this section includes information about the Food Standards Code and Queensland food legislation.
More detailed information on food topics and issues can be found by clicking on the links at the left under Food.
