Queensland Medical Transport Systems

Access to health services is a major issue throughout the state with an estimated 23,000 Queenslanders accessing health services on a daily basis. Initiatives to drive patient transport reform include the establishment of health related transport reference groups in each health service district in collaboration with Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Transport and the investigation of the concept of mobility management.

Due to this, within the Emergency Management Unit – Queensland Health, two positions have been created to direct state-wide leadership, strategic service and operational policy development and planning for transport access and patient transport matters within Queensland.
