Epidemiology is defined as the branch of medicine that deals with the study of the causes, distribution, and control of disease in human populations. Epidemiology combines the disciplines of medicine, health sciences, social sciences on the one hand and statistics on the other and, to some extent detective work, to make an interesting and varied profession.
Epidemiology has three main aims:
Epidemiology services in Queenland Health are delivered at state level primarily in Health Protection and Preventative Health and also in the regional services.
