Health information for residents potentially affected by the fluoride dosing incident at North Pine Dam - 1 May 2009

Could the water have made me sick?

It is possible that some residents were exposed to elevated fluoride levels in their drinking water between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on May 1 2009.

This was an isolated incident and the chance of any health side effects are remote.

Given the short period of exposure, any adverse health effects are unlikely and would be limited - at the most - to very mild gastroenteritis.

Symptoms would have occurred within 24 hours of consuming the water and would have resolved within about 24 hours.

Will there be any long term health effects?

Queensland Health is confident there will not be any long term health impacts resulting from this incident.

Who should I contact if I'm worried about mine or my family's health?
