A commercial vessel that involves the sale of food or the handling of food intended for sale, is considered to be a food business under the Food Act 2006 (the Act). All food businesses are required to comply with the provisions of the Act and Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and are subject to the same licensing requirements of the Act.
Commercial vessels that are a food business, in accordance with the Act, are considered to be mobile food premises and will be included in the register of mobile food vendors. Refer to the mobile food premises page for further information on the requirements of food businesses that operate from mobile food premises.
