The Gold Coast Surgery Centre (GCSC) is an innovative day surgery solution for Gold Coast Health, providing day surgery for people who are generally fit and healthy or have existing health problems that are well controlled by a medical practitioner.
Day surgery, often referred to as 'ambulatory surgery', is surgery that is completed in one day and does not require the patient to stay overnight in hospital. It is for minor surgical procedures. Day surgery is a very popular choice for patients who need surgery and are able to recover comfortably at home.
Through the GCSC, Gold Coast Health patients will be able to access elective day surgery procedures in a timely and efficient manner. The GCSC bases its care on the patient and their family; care is evidence-based and benchmarked on best practice. The GCSC will support current Gold Coast Health facilities by relieving surgical demand pressure on elective surgery cases.
