Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct

The Gold Coast University Hospital will play a major role in the new Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct planned for Southport.

Many opportunities are presented by the precinct development. The new hospital will be located adjacent to Griffith University and enable close ties to be forged with nearby Bond University and the Queensland Academy for Health Sciences. These relationships will harness the mutual benefit gained between delivering patient health care and the teaching and hands-on learning benefits of future generations of health professionals.

The precinct plan is a whole-of-government initiative led by the Department of Infrastructure and Planning and involves on-going, close collaboration and negotiation between Queensland Health, Griffith University, Gold Coast City Council, Translink, Department of Natural Resources and Water, and other key private and non-government stakeholders.

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct Plan details the vision of an 'urban oucome' for Parklands Drive involving traffic calming, activated street edges lined with cafes and shops, and easy access to the planned Gold Coast Rapid Transit System.

The precinct will enable the education, health, transport and private sectors to create a shared service delivery environment providing access convenience for the community.
