Community Engagement

Get involved and make a difference

Gold Coast Health needs input and suggestions from the people who use or may use our service. We take this input to influence what we do and how we do it.

There are two ways that you can participate:

  1. Join our Consumer Advisory Group and/or
  2. Register for our online Community of Interest (coming early 2012).

The Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) is made up of people like you who have some prior experience / knowledge of our service. They contribute in one-off or ongoing roles, by bringing their past experience as a health consumer to our service planning and evaluation groups.  You could be involved in hospital visits for feedback and/or special projects where we need health consumers input.

The Online Community of Interest is a way for you to keep abreast of what is happening in your health service on the Gold Coast, without a commitment for ongoing participation. There are new services and health facilities being upgraded and built on the Gold Coast - all of which can benefit greatly from health consumers input. People who join this group can receive information on their chosen topic and participate at a level that suits them.

Our health district is changing

From July 2012 our health district will become a Local Health and Hospital Network (LHHN) as a statutory body. This means we will:

No formal skills are required to participate as a consumer representative - however health consumers with good informal or formal networks can help us gain a broad range of input.
